Charter Schools: What the AEC Industry Needs to Know

    February 01, 2018
    11:30 AM to 1:00 PM
     Add to Calendar

    Dressler's Restaurant at The Metropolitan
    1100 Metropolitan Avenue #125
    Charlotte, NC 28204

According to a recent article published by WRAL, NC Charter schools enrolled nearly 90,000 students in more than 170 schools and saw an increase in student population of 11,437 while traditional public schools saw enrollment fall by 5,562 students.

For parents Charter schools provide another option of how their students will be educated. The Charter allows the school operational autonomy to pursue specific educational objectives. This autonomy also provides the school decision-making authority over matters that traditional public schools do not have, such as funding and zoning limitations.

But does this autonomy and flexibility impact planning, renovation and construction? What is their procurement process and how do they get funding? What do Charter schools want in an Architect and General Contractor? Do they prefer CM at Risk versus another method and why?

These questions and more will be answered by our panelists as they share their experiences and insight on Charter schools and help us to understand what the AEC industry needs to know in order to be part of their growth.
