April 2015

From the President

Even though it was rainy and the skies were grey the other day, I could not help smiling. It was wonderful to see the trees budding and flowers blooming and know that spring is officially here.

With the warmer weather we hope you will venture out to one (or more) of our programs this month. We have many great events on the agenda – with top speakers. Please see our website for more information: www.smpscharlotte.org

4/1: Wine Wednesday
4/9: Aviation in North Carolina
4/21: Breakfast Club
4/29: Getting a Seat at the Table: Identify Your Leadership Strengths

As our calendar year winds down, we want to hear from you. What have you liked about SMPS Charlotte this year? What can we improve on? How did you get your career start? Through networking!  I met someone who is in this industry and she had heard that my boss was looking for a Business Development person.  At the time I was also interviewing with the Mint Museum of Art and before that I worked for a best-selling author and speaker traveling the US producing public seminars for him.

First Job: Working at a yacht club making subs and working the gas docks. It was awesome!

Personal Hero: I have two…My husband Brian and my Mom Susan.

Favorite Vacation Spot: Charleston, SC. I love traveling international too but Charleston is the perfect blend of history, beach, amazing food and drink and for me means family because when we go there for vacation we usually rent a beach house with family.

How are you involved with SMPS?: Not as much as I should be or would like to be, but I am on the Program’s Committee and put together the PPT for the monthly lunches.
