May 2015

From the President

Next week’s luncheon focusing on Economic Development will be our last regular lunch program for our 2014-2014 year; however, we will continue to have Education events as well as networking events.  So be sure to review the upcoming events on our webpage www.smpscharlotte.org and register and add them to your calendar.

We recently held our annual Focus Group and walked away with many great suggestions to make our Chapter more beneficial to our members. We will be following up with a survey to our membership, so please take the time to respond to this when you see you it in your email.  This is a volunteer organization and we need help from all of you to make is successful.

If you are a member, you will also be receiving an email to vote on the 2015-2016 Board next week. Your vote will be due back by May 31, 2015. If you have any questions about positions about the Board or how you get involved, please reach out to me.  If you do have any interest in holding a Board position, our by-laws state you must first serve on a committee for a year – so ask how to get involved!

As always I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event!

Tracy Sagehorn, CPSM W.K. Dickson & Co., Inc. SMPS Charlotte President

Where you live now and how long you’ve lived there: Still here!

Where you went to college: Queens University of Charlotte

Favorite restaurant: It’s hard to beat a cheesesteak from my husband’s restaurant, The Steak ‘n Hoagie Shop, but for fine dining – Bistro La Bon in Plaza Midwood…their bourbon brioche bread pudding will change your life!

Favorite book/or last book read: I just read And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini…it’s definitely one of those books that sticks with you.

How did you get your career start? During my senior year at Queens I started interning with a construction firm and have never looked back!

First Job: Waiting tables at Dorian’s, my parent’s deli in Matthews. When you’re Greek it’s tough to escape working in the family business.

Personal Hero: My mom and my sister – they are headstrong women, but they have compassion, they work hard, but still enjoy the moment and they know how to be honest, but still be kind. I don’t know what I would do without them! 0-

Favorite Vacation Spot: I love to travel and research destinations and am always drawn to Europe in general…the Greek Islands, Paris, London and Rome specifically!

How are you involved with SMPS?: I served as Director of Programs earlier in my career and now as a member I try to attend as many events as possible, including SMPS U last fall which was an incredible experience.
