SMPS Charlotte is teaming up with Elevate Marketing Advisors for a three-part educational series! The first topic is Marketing, Branding & Business Development – What’s the Difference?

Carla Thompson, FSMPS, CPSM, Senior Consultant will be leading this workshop to define and explain the differences in branding, marketing, and business development and offer a clear understanding of how each is used for success.

Carla Thompson has 37 years’ experience in the AEC industry and is highly respected by clients, former employers, co-workers, and colleagues. She started her career as a temporary typist for a 50-person architectural firm and worked her way up from there to become the Chief Marketing Officer of a multi-office international design firm. Today she's a senior consultant and CMO-To-Go with Elevate Marketing Advisors, working alongside Doug Parker and Jen Newman.

Carla is a Certified Professional Services Marketer and SMPS Fellow, and she served on the National Board for three 2-year terms. In 2018 she received SMPS’ Weld Coxe Lifetime Marketing Achievement Award, the Society’s most prestigious honor, in recognition of her career achievements, leadership roles, and lasting contributions to the industry.

She has won over two dozen marketing communications awards and published numerous articles in national publications. Carla has also presented over 200 seminars, workshops and training programs—including a Fellows Forum for the Charlotte Chapter several years ago at the invitation of Janet Brooks. She’s very happy to be with us today from her home in rain-soaked Seattle.
