Becoming a part of a committee is a great way to get involved with SMPS, connect with other members, and do beneficial work for the A/E/C industry and the entire community.
communications Committee
Communications Director: Ashley Yarsinske

The Communications Committee oversees all internal and external messaging for the Charlotte chapter. From monthly e-newsletters and program announcements to public relations efforts and direct marketing campaigns, the committee ensures members and the broader community stay connected and informed. The team also manages and updates the SMPS Charlotte website, serving as a central hub for chapter news and events.
The Communications Committee meets the fourth Tuesday of the month from 9:00 am - 9:30 am.

EDUCATION Committee
Education Director: Berni Medina

The Education Committee promotes professional development for chapter members and non-members, marketers and technical staff alike, through marketing-focused, industry-specific educational programs. This includes our CPSM Study Group series, which boasts an extremely high pass rate. The committee works closely with the Programs Committee to ensure the programs focus on the Six Domains of Practice. They also provide study group sessions for the CPSM exam.
The Education Committee meets the last Monday of the month from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
Membership Committee
Membership Director: Maddy Thorn

The Membership Committee focuses on initiatives that drive, support, recruit and sustain chapter membership. The committee welcomes and orients new members, provides mentoring and member recognition opportunities, encourages enrollment through a vibrant membership drive, tracks membership, and conducts surveys to attract and retain members.
The Membership Committee meets the first Wednesday of the month from 8:30 am - 9:00 am.
Programs Committee
Programs Director: Sara Downing, FSMPS, CPSM

The Programs Committee provides networking and educational opportunities for the Charlotte chapter. The committee organizes industry-specific, special interest programs and events involving prominent industry leaders, public officials, media figures, and other key individuals related to marketing in the A/E/C industry. Working closely with the Education Committee, programs are designed to focus on the Six Domains of Practice and seek to strengthen relationships with peer and industry organizations.
The Programs Committee meets the first Monday of the month from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm - brown bag lunch.
Sponsorship Committee
Sponsorship Director: Abby Brossette

The Sponsorship Committee is vital to helping create awareness, connections, and contributing to the financial stability for the chapter and its members. Responsible for securing sponsorships for SMPS Charlotte programs, the chapter, and specialty events, this committee supports the mission to advocate for, educate, and connect leaders in the building industry.
